Hello,
It’s been a few years since I’ve posted something here. Coming up on three, actually.
I’ve missed the interaction with all of you, but due to health issues, I haven’t had the energy to keep things going on this blog. However, in the coming days, I want to show up again and share a little bit of my story.
Seven years ago, on January 27, 2017, my life took an unexpected turn, and I was eventually diagnosed with a viral infection in my brain (encephalitis). At the time, though it was a terrifying experience, I assumed if I made it through the disease alive, my life would simply return to normal.
It never has.
In fact, it’s left me not only with some extreme challenges but also as officially disabled.
However, I’ve learned to find great joy both in surviving such an illness, and in the new life that I live, one that’s filled with writing stories and friendships with so many of you.
So, starting tomorrow (Jan. 27), I’ll be sharing a bit of a journal of my experience, starting with a deep pain in my eye and leading to my eventual diagnosis and then on to an entirely new direction in life.
I hope this story is not only of interest for you, but also an encouragement in the midst of the many deep struggles so many face.
Your friend,
Shawn
Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post on Day One of Encephalitis and New Directions!

Glad to have you here!
I enjoy following your journey!
Thanks for sharing; hope you’re getting along okay now.
Thank you, Mary! I’ve found some improvements in some areas, not in others, but I’ve found great joy in the midst of it all. 🙂
